I took my daughter to her appointment severa weeks later. They have her nitrous and when they inserted the tongue depresser into her mouth, she gagged and threw up breakfast. Only THEN did Dr. Corey tell me I shouldn't have fed her breakfast. I then addressed that no information was given to me about this procedure or how to prepare and I was pretty mad. How can a parent ask a question they don't know to ask?
So a few months ago I would have given this dentist 5 stars, until my 3 year old'/ dental health became more complex. During a winter dental cleaning she mentioned my child's back teeth had cavities and hurriedly mentioned silver fillings and have me the choice between those or tooth colored and then told an employee to schedule us an appointment. That was it. Literally no additional information.
Dr. Korie's filling fell out of my child's tooth twice and when we called to have her fix it, we were told we had to wait two months for an appointment. We ended up getting it fixed elsewhere.
The office clearly is no longer interested in anything a customer is concerned about. I called the morning before 3 children appointments to verify the cost of the visit. Ashley said she was not able to provide me with the cost until we were there and the insurance was ran. I explained that the price was a determining factor. She immediately asked me if I wanted to cancel the appointments. We then received a $40 bill a few days later for 2 broken appointments. The first was 5 YEARS AGO. Ashley said she would have the Dentist call me. No one ever called. Im sure its all about the money and they obviously couldn't care.
When I told Dr. Corey's office we selected another dentist to complete the procedure, they recommended going to her for all dental cleanings. Totally understandable. Then I get a letter in the mail from Dr. Corie saying she feels we're "uncomfortable" with her treatment plan and canceled not only my 3 year old's future appointments, but my 6 year old's too. All without even talking to me!
We went to another dentist to get a second opinion, and she was professional and informative. We were given many more treatment options, including painless laser treatment instead of just drilling and painful lidocaine shots. We went with her and she got us in within a few weeks.
Dr Korie is great! My son does great here.
This dentist needs to increase her professionalism and take time with her patients and parents to prepare kids for their procedures. Her office is busy, but if she can't take five, even ten minutes at the most to sit with a parent to discuss a pretty significant dental procedure, that is pitiful. And to not even give me a call and talk to me, but send a somewhat rude letter?? Guess we're expendable. She has enough patients I suppose that perhaps one mom who raises concerns doesn't really matter.
Dr. Korie was highly recommended to me via several friends and mom groups' circles. I am so glad we made the switch to Derby City Pediatric Dentistry. The staff had my four year old - who normally dislikes dentist visits - laughing and wanting to show off his teeth! Both the hygienist and Dr. Korie took the time to explain things to him, and ensure he felt comfortable along the process. I am taking my 18 month old there next week, and I know we'll have the same positive experience.
They stopped the procedure and my poor 3 year old would have to go through this again. And they couldn't fit her in for another month and a half!!
Don't go here unless you plan to do your own research or your child doesn't need more than cleanings.
