Great selection but staff are a little distant.
One of the must see places in Louisville! I can't recommend this place enough. The shop is so full it's cramped and that's a compliment. They focus on books you might not have heard of. I particularly like their fiction and LGBT section. I prefer this place over any big box book shop. There's a cozy little coffee shop in the back.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of books. If I am looking for something specific I might call ahead. They will order for you. Otherwise, it is a great place to get a coffee and peruse the selection.
Carmichael's is amazing. It's the perfect size with the perfect people and the perfect smells in a perfect area of town. I really cannot speak highly enough of this place to portray how perfect it is for book lovers!
