Beautiful grounds and wonderful volunteers! Everyone is so happy to share their knowledge with you. The kitchen is my favorite area, though the house--which has been lovingly restored--is really nice, too! Locust Grove really brings history to life. Definitely keep an eye out for events here, too. They're always fun and well done!

I would check if there is a school group going. We were unable to watch the introduction because of numerous school groups. They did give us the link to watch it, but the experience was not the same.

Excellent place to visit. The tour of the house was wonderfully done. Great effort was put into historical restoration. After the tour, the ability to look over the grounds on you own (at your own pace) is fulfilling. A really nice place for families. I would go again.

Beautifully maintained house and grounds. Reenactments thru out year as well as performances by local artists.

This is one of my favorite historic sites to visit. The staff is welcoming and informative. They have a cast of volunteers who study and portray carefully-researched versions of the members of the historic household. I am always impressed with their attention to the details of history and their interaction with the public. Although a small site, they host several large history events throughout the year, and the cost is quite low for the quality of the site. :)

We went for the fall market, so did not get the "normal" experience, but it was well worth the trip. It was a lot of fun to take a step back in time with the reenactors and their shops and demonstrations. The property is beautiful in it's own right and has just enough modern accommodations (museum, restrooms, gift shop, etc.) that benefit the experience without getting in the way of it's history. I would definitely come back for a guided tour as the home was beautiful and the docents seemed truly knowledgeable regarding the home.
