Best place to float in Louisville! The volunteers are extremely nice! They have music from 12 until 8. You can bring coolers and grills, just NO GLASS !
Didn't even go in. Advertised as wanting cash donations, then refused us unless we had $20 a person. Said it was for "legal purposes" that they need $20 a person but advertise it as donations. They fly confederate flags, despite the fact that Kentucky was a divided state during the civil war, making the entire atmosphere unwelcoming for our friends who are black. The men working the front gate were obnoxious and crass when we inquired about the entry fee (excuse me- I mean, the required $20 entry "donation"!!). I would not support a business like this.
Greatest place in Louisville to chill. You can bring your own drinks, barbecue and a smile. Great price to party. Simple little rules: No GLASS, Keep a float with you while in water and don't go under water tunnel. They have a loving and caring staff
I like these guys! Since there are two quarries near Louisville, I'm making a point to say that Southside is the most accommodating and chill of the two! Highly recommended.
If you are comfortable supporting people who openly discriminate against the black community and who use false advertising in attempt to drum up business, then this is the place for you!
Have a hard time understanding how a 20 entrance fee is a donation. If your going to charge a fee then charge a fee not say donations accepted then slap 20 dollars on it. Kind of feels like they pick and choose who they want to let in and/or prejudices against ppl. Definitely wish ky had a state owned on now.
ALSO, they sewed half of an American flag and half of a confederate flag together to fly, which is incredibly disrespectful to the country, let alone all of the black people in the state who would like to enjoy the quarry. Completely tasteless and disrespectful. I can't say enough about how classless this place was. I see in the comments below that the owner commented something about "we don't discriminate" in response to another frustrated customer... that's ironic. "We don't discriminate unless you are black" is what they meant to say, I believe.
It doesn't matter if you just want to relax solo or you want to party with a group of friends, it can do it all at Southside!!!
