Extremely unprofessional and inappropriate principal. After teaching there for nearly 11 years, I left after the principal told me I would be forced to disclose my health records and after questioning me nearly daily about inane gossip he had heard about me. For example, the last idiotic question I received was if I was giving my personal email out to students. The frivolous, stupid questioning and the illegality of trying to force someone with a legal disability to disclose private government protected information was enough for me. This coming in addition to the fact that the principal, F. Klausing, saddled me, a teacher with the entire process of accreditation. A job he as a principal was required to do. He continually complained I wasn't working fast enough, yelled at me in person when I didn't call him back over summer break to work on the project, lied about giving me the agreed upon compensation of more sick days (I received nothing),and then presented it like he himself accomplished it.
With low pay, no regard for their staff, and days where you are sometimes at the school for 15 hrs, the school, and Archdiocese of Louisville in general are poor places to work. If you are disabled or a minority, don't expect fair treatment, expect people to gossip, and don't expect appreciation/recognition. So much wrong in what should be an environment that is expected to be better.
I went to this school for three years and in my third year had panic attacks almost daily and never fit in with the “popular girls”. There were many cliques and the school wasn’t challenging for me. When I switched over to Schaffer I immediately had people reaching out to me to be my friend. I found I was behind in subjects like math and writing. When I adjusted I made all Good grades and was happier than ever. This is not a good environment and people will judge you on your items and not your personality.
St. Bernard is a true family. My thirty-one years teaching there were a joy (maybe not every day). What amazed me was that people would return as teachers or with their children. There have been eight teachers, former students, in the last thirty-one years and many "grandstudents". I feel that the St. Bernard gives the students a top notch education and a strong support family.
We have been a part of St Bernard church and school for over 10 years. I couldn’t have better things to say. The teachers, the staff, friends that we have met along the way. It has been a perfect fit for our family. I encourage anyone to “shop” when searching for an environment that fits your families needs. For us St Bernard has been that place, my children have excelled and been challenged as well has held to high stands in what is expected in faith and everyday life. I find it very sad that people from St Bernard’s past that didn’t always abide by the rules and found trouble more often than not to ridicule a place that holds value to many families like ours. Wouldn’t trade our days at St Bernard with any other parish or school.
Lol the principle called me trashy for something I didn't even do
